“Before being a conscious spectacle, any landscape is an oneiric experience. We only look with aesthetic passion at the landscapes we first saw in dreams.”
–Gaston Bachelard in Water and dreams (1942)
Discovering the submarine world, when I was diving for the first time in 2019 has been the trigger of my investigation. In this moment I felt dazzled and fascinated by the beauty of this fragile and strange nature. It seems like an unexpected and familiar place at the same time. It was also my first meeting with a tropical country, and I was captivated by this abundant and generous nature with its exuberant forms. The diving experience is captivating, it is an exclusive and immersive moment in an unusual and fantastic world. The fish’s movements, floating slowly, then suddenly fast, modify the structure of a constant moving landscape. The corals offer a multiplicity of colored forms to the eye. This universe of strange and mysterious beauty seemed to reveal the harmony of a complex nature, witch’s essence escapes to us.
“Unknown life forms seem to float in some kind of strange fluid, it is not possible to define with certainty whether it is viscous, liquid or water. It could be before, after or during; inside or outside of a body; it is no place and no time at the same time. Although at a glance, one can know that it is alive.”
Bailen con ella (Dance with her), Daniela Arroyo.
“In a space, notes and calls, indecipherable maps that, like all of them, are certainly liars. A crossroads of lines that are the structure of a fluctuating worldview, unfinished but resounding. Two main characters.”
A special way of breathing, Andrés Waissman.
